For those fond of compact pickup trucks, the 2023 Nissan Frontier is far from average thanks to its impressive style, tech capabilities, and its V6 engine providing class-leading power for whatever the task. Coming in five different trims, this top-of-the-line PRO-X Crew Cab version brings a lot more off-road capabilities and four-wheel drive for optimal maneuverability to make drivers even more confident behind the wheel. Under the hood, the Frontier’s 3.8-liter V6 engine flexes 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque that provides serious muscle complemented by its nine-speed automatic transmission. The towing capacity is 6,640 pounds with a five-foot bed length.

With more than six decades of proven leadership backing it up, the 2023 Nissan Frontier is the right-sized pickup that’s as convenient for everyday work in the city as it is thrilling for adventures in the great outdoors. Photos courtesy of Nissan

The exterior leaves little to be desired with the Pro-X’s signature all-terrain tires surrounding 17-inch painted alloy PRO wheels; an attractive LED lighting package (including fog, under rail, and headlamps); a curvaceous frame; black grille with “Lava Red” PRO branding accents; Bilstein shocks; a spray-on bed liner; and additional skid plates to take on virtually any road condition while vital parts underneath are exceptionally protected.

The Frontier isn’t not all about brawn and good looks; it’s the Frontier’s inside that distinctly counts as well. Nissan goes the high-tech route with a vibrant nine-inch color touchscreen display serving as the command center for entertainment, navigation, and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android/Bluetooth compatibility. The Pro Premium Package adds to the style points to wow onlookers and up to five riders as well. It includes a theateresque Fender premium audio system with 10 speakers plus subwoofers, the aforementioned 17-inch beadlock-style aluminum-alloy wheels, leather seating with attractive red stitching for a racing feel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, power sliding moonroof, and HomeLink Universal Transceiver to name a few pluses. The two household-style power outlets and wireless device charging are great attributes. To take on the ruthless fall and winter months, the driver will appreciate the truck’s dedication to battling inclement weather with several items being heated, including the outside mirrors, steering wheel, and front seats.

The Frontier’s safety is top notch, thanks to an advanced airbag system, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and an intelligent around-view monitor with moving-object detection to list just a few of the numerous mind-easing applications.

Set at about $46K including the highly recommended Nissan Pro Premium, Convenience, and Technology packages, plus destination charge, this price tag is a more than fair ask for such an advanced compact pickup.
